Summer and Winter, the club has a culture of inclusiveness that encourages members and guests to imbibe in the club culture, enjoy each other’s company, and bring their own unique input to weekend and midweek stays.

This inclusive culture is fostered by members attending work parties, belonging to the committee, actively engaging in the various programs which supporting our members to be the best skiers and boarders they want to be. These programs include events such as adults week, ladies week, kiddies week, junior race weekends and themed parties year round that fill our exciting winter calendar.

Ski development and racing are important functions of the club with training squads for juniors and teens, an adult's midweek development program and of course the famous Ngauruhoe Ski Club Trophy Race.

The Ngauruhoe Ski Club Trophy Race is the largest inter-club race on the mountain. It is keenly contested by most of the clubs in the Iwikau Village with the after race party being a highly anticipated annual highlight.

Ngauruhoe Ski Club facilities are also available outside the official "ski season". Mountain biking, hiking, fishing, The Old Coach Road and the Tongariro Crossing are all close by. Family and social events can also be accommodated at Ngauruhoe Ski Club as both lodges can be booked for exclusive use at economical rates.

While staying at one of our two modern and comfortable lodges, every member and guest  will be assigned a light duty to keep the club running smoothly and share the workload.  At Whakapapa during winter, breakfast and dinner are provided courtesy of our Custodian who is resident at the lodge from early July until the end of October.

We are excited to share the news that in the 2024 season the custodian will be back at Whakapapa. The government has funded the RAL operation to enable the 2024 ski season to run at both Whakapapa and Turoa.
